The sub-$15,000 battery-electric hatchback has become the fastest-moving category in China auto export, and the Wuling Bingo S sits right at the center of it. For importers in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, this car answers a very specific question: how do you put a five-door, five-seat 电动 vehicle into a market where the average new car budget is under $18,000 — and still make margin? This comparison looks at the Bingo S against the three models it most often competes with in real quotation sheets, and at the export variables that decide whether a container actually clears customs.
What the Wuling Bingo S Brings to an Import Program
The Bingo S is the export-oriented evolution of WULING's Bingo hatchback line, built by SGMW — the SAIC–General Motors–Wuling joint venture based in Liuzhou, Guangxi. In its current export configurations it is a 4,090 mm class five-door hatchback on a 2,610 mm wheelbase, powered by a permanent-magnet synchronous motor driving through a 单速 (single-speed) reduction gearbox.
Three battery trims are typically quoted: a 333 km CLTC short-range version on a smaller LFP pack, a 401 km mid trim on 37.9 kWh, and a 510 km long-range trim on 50.6 kWh. All three use 电动 LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry rather than NMC — a detail that matters far more in Khartoum or Riyadh than it does in Shanghai.
Why importers keep returning to this model:
- Brand recognition. WULING already sells in Indonesia, Mexico and Chile, so buyers recognize the badge and parts channels exist.
- Physical size. At just over four meters, the Bingo S fits the parking reality of Manila, Nairobi and Lima — and fits two units per 40'HQ container.
- Drivetrain simplicity. A 单速 gearbox means no clutches, no torque converter, no shift logic. For a dealer with a small workshop, that is a warranty cost you can actually forecast.
- Price band. It undercuts comparable 电动 imports from most European and Japanese brands by a wide margin while staying above the no-frills micro-EV segment.
